Keys: A arrow, R rectangle, E ellipse, T text, B blur. Ctrl+Z or ⌘Z undoes. Shift snaps lines, squares, and circles.

How to annotate a screenshot

  1. Open a screenshot

Drop a PNG, JPG, or WebP onto the panel, paste it with Ctrl+V, or load the sample invoice. It stays in this tab.

  2. Mark it up

Pick arrow, rectangle, ellipse, text, or the blur brush. Hold Shift to snap angles, squares, and circles.

  3. Fix mistakes

Undo and redo work like any editor (Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Shift+Z). Clear the markup to start over on the same image.

  4. Take the PNG

Download the marked-up PNG or copy it straight to the clipboard. Nothing is posted to a server.

Features

  • Five markup tools

Arrows, rectangles, ellipses, text labels, and a blur brush — the set screenshots actually need, with keyboard shortcuts for each.

  • Blur that sticks

The blur brush is baked into the exported PNG, so redacted details stay redacted when the image is shared.

  • Nothing is uploaded

The screenshot is decoded and drawn on a canvas in this tab. A strict content security policy blocks outbound requests.

  • Paste, drop, or upload

Screenshots usually start in the clipboard — paste them straight in, or drag a file anywhere on the page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I annotate a screenshot for free?

Use this tool. Open a screenshot by dropping, pasting, or uploading it, add your marks, and download the PNG. There is no sign-up, no watermark, and no upload — everything happens in your browser.

Is my screenshot uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is decoded and edited on a canvas inside this tab, and the exported PNG is built locally too. The site's content security policy blocks outbound requests as a technical guarantee.

Can I hide parts of a screenshot before sharing it?

Yes. The blur brush paints over names, numbers, and anything else that should be unreadable, and the blur is baked into the exported PNG. For a quick redaction you can also start on the dedicated blur page.

What image formats can I open?

PNG, JPG, WebP, and GIF screenshots up to 25 MB. Very large images are scaled down to a 2,200 px long side so the editor stays fast. The export is always PNG.

Can I undo a mark?

Yes. Ctrl+Z undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes, and the buttons do the same. The last 50 steps are kept; Clear markup removes everything at once.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Drawing works with touch, the toolbar wraps on small screens, and the main buttons are sized for fingers. Pasting depends on your mobile browser's clipboard support.
